
The new Dean of Engineering, Prof. Engr. Babatope Albert Alabadan was born on 11th November, 1964 at Ikere-Ekiti. He had his primary and secondary education at St. John’s African Church Primary School, Ikere-Ekiti and African Church Comprehensive High School, Ikere-Ekiti respectively between 1970 and 1982. He gained admission to the Federal University of Technology, Akure (FUTA) in 1984 and graduated as one of the outstanding students in the Department of Agricultural Engineering of the institution in 1989. His thirst for higher academic qualification took him to the prestigious Premier University of Ibadan in 1991 for his Master of Science Degree in Agricultural Engineering, majoring in Farm power and Machinery. The burning desire for more knowledge in Prof. Alabadan would not let him rest on his oars until he had his Doctorate Degree in Farm Structures and Environment from the same University of Ibadan. Prof. B. A. Alabadan also had Post-Doctoral Certificates in Research and Development in Postharvest Practices.
An erudite Scholar and professional expert, Prof. Engr. Alabadan is a member of many professional bodies among which are: Member, Nigerian Institute of Agricultural Engineers; Member, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria; National Trainer, Competency Based Economies for the Formation of Enterprise.
In the field of academics, Prof. Alabadan has contributed to the body of knowledge. He has reviewed many academic and professional journals, both at local and international levels. He has also served in the Editorial Boards of many academic Journals of Sciences, Technologies and Engineering. Prof. Alabadan has written many books and journals as well as conference papers both at local and international fora. He has also examined WAEC, NECO, JAMB students and many Universities for Masters’ and Doctorate Degrees.
Before he transferred his service to the Federal University Oye Ekiti in October, 2013, the new Dean has been a Lecturer at Niger Delta University and Federal University of Technology, Minna.
Prof. Engr. Babatope Albert Alabadan is married to Mrs Alabadan and the marriage is blessed with four promising children.
